Busy Day in the Life of Me

I did run last night. Not very far, not very fast, but more than on Sunday. More on that later.

I had to get through the day first. Tuesday means taking Brass Boy to his band rehearsal at school an hour early. No sticking him on the bus – it doesn’t come that early. So, seconds after entrusting the Little Mermaid to her bus driver, I whisked Band Boy to his practice – a 20 minute drive one way. I came home, grabbed my Superstore baskets, grocery list and the $30 coupon taped to a basket in case I spent enough to qualify for it, and headed to the store. Got there at 8:30, doors don’t open until 9. Frig. How am I supposed to buy $250 of groceries to last us 2 weeks in ONE hour? I have to be at work by 11, eh.

I realized I hadn’t had breakfast yet and studied my list at Starbucks with a hazelnut soy latte and a banana bread. Hey, this isn’t so bad…

It is amazing how fast I can shop when I need to. My grocery list is in table form from an Excel spreadsheet, with the columns set up in sections like the rows in the store. Yes, I even have estimated prices beside the items I need, and the columns all add up at the bottom so I know how much I’m spending. Okay, so maybe I’m a little geeky…

By 10 I’d completely stocked up my Christmas baking needs and picked up a fair bit of other essentials and headed home to unload the perishables and get ready for work. Worked 11 – 3, ate left-over turkey pie at my desk. After work I went straight home and cut up pork to marinate in BBQ sauce for dinner, hunted down stray library books and welcomed kiddos off their busses. We then promptly drove off to the library.

I had to go to the library right then because my hold on a CD I’d been waiting for since June was finally in, and it would expire the next day. So, overdue library fine paid up, Sarah McLaughlin CD in hand, we headed home to make supper, put away the rest of the groceries and slice the bread I baked Sunday, which still hasn’t made it to the freezer.

Can I run yet? Can I run yet?

The Hubby came home and was sicker again. He is not recovering from his cold as well as I am from mine. He wasn’t even hungry, he had chills and couldn’t get warm. While the rest of us ate and I gave Band Boy instructions to do the dishes and treat his sister like a human being while Hubby headed for a warm bath and I went out running.
